"Potatoman"
Jan Kallenbach
a file of personal growth of Jan Kallenbach, Taiki & Yi-chuan
wushu / budo teacher, who was nicknamed 'potatoman' by his
Tai Ki Kenpo teacher: master Sawai Kenichi.
In standing like a tree, in thinking like a placid flowing river and full of energy like
a hibernating dragon, in moving like a tiger.
Smiling Potato-man, having no deficiencies, who calmly can stand any attack, yet ...
can be swift as the wind, quiet as the forest and fierce as a raging fire.
His whirling arms are everywhere and touch and hit unexpectedly as he likes
and seem to finish the fall the opponents have to make.
His mind is already there before you can think of and even when you start moving
before he does, he will arrive before you do.
His voice is stable, his appearance relaxed and his eyes are calm and
looking through you.
He advocates to be 'outside soft' and 'inside strong' and he teaches that
"the best offense is defense"
in every encounter:
jan-chung powers, whirling arms...with sudden hakkč and quick moving with
hanpun-ashi, jing, sheng and chi!...and when needed: ...does he show the necessary
limits literally…one can not afford to grab him by way of fun...otherwise the heart
and spell of the martial arts will get lost and the essence of mastership will vanish!
He tries everyone who comes before him and is willing to teach those
who are open for it.
